As the dentist and practice owner, you’re fully aware of how hard your team works and how much their efforts contribute to your practice’s success. While you may already provide reasonable pay and generous benefits like paid vacations, insurance, or retirement, are you showing your team that you’re thankful for their hard work? November is known as the month of thanks, and it’s the perfect time to show how thankful you are for your team. Thanks often come in the form of a word, following someone’s favorable actions or attitude, but it can come in other ways too. By doing so, you foster encouragement and attract or retain the best team members. But here are five excellent reasons why you should show more gratitude this month.

It shows that you notice them as people,
not just what they have to offer

Often, leaders show appreciation for a well-completed task that was already expected by management. While a “job well done” is welcomed by most employees, you can show appreciation by recognizing their strengths as a person. For instance, maybe you have a team member that is really funny and likes to make their co-workers and patients laugh. Or perhaps one of your employees frequently volunteers within the community. Recognize them for these abilities. It will have a positive impact on their productivity and happiness to know that they are recognized for more than doing what they are expected to do in the first place.

It creates leaders

Hopefully, you want to see your team members grow and succeed at anything they set out to accomplish, especially in their careers. Work can be stressful and busy, but showing gratitude helps promote a positive mood, which naturally boosts one’s health. Not to mention, positive attitudes rub off on other people, too. One study even found that happy workers are 50 percent more successful when leaders recognize their hard work.

It helps foster healthy relationships

It’s easy to assume that gratitude is only beneficial to the receiver. However, you’ll find that gratitude is a two-way street. It helps strengthen relationships with your team.

It positively affects office culture

Many people think of their work as just a job. But it doesn’t have to be that way. A good workplace is one that respects one another and enjoys being around each other, which can be shown through gratitude. When everyone shows gratitude, it improves the practice culture; everyone is happier and more productive. Whether you’re accustomed to showing gratitude or not, there’s no better time to start than now! Remember, gratitude goes beyond a “thank you.”  If you’re looking for some ideas this month on ways to show that you’re thankful for your dental team, check out our newest blog!

Why Digital Scans Should Be Taken on All New Dental Patients

First impressions matter, and in dentistry, the first visit a patient makes to your practice can set the tone for their entire experience.  Traditionally, new patient appointments involve a clinical exam, x-rays, and a review of the patient’s medical and dental history.  But as technology continues to evolve, there’s one essential tool that is reshaping

Transitioning from Insurance-Based to Fee-for-Service Dentistry: A Step-by-Step Guide

For many dental practices, participating in insurance networks has long been the standard.  But more and more dentists are making the move toward fee-for-service (FFS) models ,  and for good reason.  A fee-for-service practice can offer more autonomy, more time with patients, reduced administrative overhead, and in many cases, greater profitability.
