Are you Daydreaming Daydreaming about "Next Year?"

Next year, I’m going to . . . You’ve heard the saying, “it’s just a wish until you write it down.”  Well, write it down and prepare to live your best life. Pull out that calendar and start your planning for 2023. Be intentional with what you want to do and make it happen. Planning for the year may seem daunting, but I hope you will feel excited and afraid simultaneously! Grab a tablet and keep it at your desk. Start writing when something comes to mind. Have you told yourself you “can’t afford” to take time off for this or that? And time off is for more than resting and recharging. How about growing your skills and your team’s skills. Do you want to learn new things to bring new profitability to your office? Starting in July, your hygiene team will begin scheduling recall appointments for January.

Here are some examples to get your good ideas going:

Maybe your child is in school, and you want to pick them up from school, or you have a child in athletics and want to attend their games. Perhaps you want to get a tee time on Wednesdays and still be home for family dinner. There are a handful of ideas. Hopefully, a few gave you an a-ha moment. You might be thinking, you don’t know what or when the CE is you want to take. This is an excellent discussion for your Kick off planning meeting. You can talk about a program you’ve wanted to do or find one for your chosen dates.

If any of you have been on a budget or heard anyone speak on that topic, they recommend you “tell your money where to go.”  Time is the same but different. You’re telling your schedule what YOU want to do. Dentistry can get busy, and you have a variety of patients with stressful days. Won’t it be nice to know you have blocked out time on your schedule for these important life moments? If you have a 3:00 blocked out now and then, do some team building, watch a webinar as a team, volunteer in the community, get a pedicure, or get home before the traffic. Take care of yourself and your team, and they’ll take care of you.

If you’re not already, please start planning a New Year kick-off with your team offsite. You don’t want one person on the team missing parts because they’re getting up to answer the phone or the front door.

The Importance of Annual Performance Reviews in a Dental Practice

Running a successful dental practice takes more than great clinical skills and a full schedule.  It also requires a strong, motivated team working in sync toward common goals. Bridging the Gap: How Dentists and Dental Assistants Can Communicate Better

In a dental practice, communication isn’t just about exchanging words, it’s about creating a seamless workflow that keeps patients comfortable and the schedule running smoothly.  Dentists and dental assistants work side-by-side in a high-paced, detail-heavy environment where even small misunderstandings can lead to delays, stress, or patient discomfort.
